Who Is veritree and Why Have We Partnered With Them?

We’re thrilled to announce our new partnership with Vancouver-based veritree, a data-driven platform dedicated to reforestation and ecosystem restoration. We are dedicating a portion of our reservation proceeds to support crucial projects in Alberta and British Columbia, including the Sawle Lake Smart Forest in Alberta and the Cariboo region in BC, as well as the restoration of Kelp Forests along the Pacific Coast and the Cariboo region in BC.

Through this partnership, we aim to help combat climate change and enhance biodiversity by planting trees in post-wildfire areas and nurturing underwater kelp forests. Our guests will benefit from veritree’s innovative and transparent blockchain technology, allowing them to track the impact of their contributions in real-time.

We continue to witness firsthand the devastating impacts of climate change on the lands and communities across British Columbia and Alberta that we operate in—places that we love and respect deeply. Through this new partnership, our goal is to make a meaningful impact and to give back to the environments that give so much to us.

Basecamp Resorts will also collaborate with the organization on activations and events, awareness campaigns and community engagement initiatives.

Our Commitment to a More Sustainable Future

At Basecamp Resorts, we believe that exploring nature goes hand-in-hand with protecting it. By choosing Basecamp, each of our guests will be taking a small step towards helping ensure that our lands are protected and replenished and that future generations can explore and enjoy them the same way that we have.

About the Projects That We’re Supporting

Here’s a peek at some of the sites we’re focusing on:

Cariboo Lake, British Columbia

Following severe wildfires, Cariboo Lake’s ecosystem has faced major challenges. veritree is planting native trees like Douglas-Fir, Lodgepole Pine, Ponderosa Pine, Hybrid Spruce, and Western Larch, which create essential habitats for wildlife like elk and bobcats. This project also prevents soil erosion and improves water quality, helping the area recover and flourish again. Take a look at the planting site in Cariboo, B.C.

Sawle Lake, Alberta

This is veritree’s most advanced Canadian project, equipped with Smart Forest technology—think sensors and satellite data that keep tabs on tree growth and site health. Sawle Lake was hit hard by wildfires, and we’re funding the planting of resilient tree species like White Spruce and Blue Spruce to help restore its natural balance while setting the stage for even more “smart” forests across Canada.

Kelp Forest Restoration, British Columbia

Did you know kelp forests are incredible carbon sinks and vital for marine life? This project is all about restoring kelp along the Northern Pacific Coast, creating shelter for fish and other marine life while also supporting local communities that rely on the ocean. The Pacific Coast kelp forests veritree is working on includes Giant Kelp, Bull Kelp, and Sugar Kelp.

Track Our Impact: How You Can Follow Along

Using veritree’s blockchain technology, you can track every planted tree in real time through our Impact Hub, knowing exactly where our restoration efforts are making an impact. Verified trees mean that every tree we plant is accounted for and makes a unique, measurable difference i.e. no double-counting. Trees also need to survive long-term to have a lasting effect, and veritree’s blockchain-based system creates a secure, unchangeable record, monitoring each tree’s growth over time.

By choosing to book directly with Basecamp Resorts, you’re actively supporting vital reforestation and marine restoration projects across Canada. Every stay helps fund the planting of verified trees in vulnerable areas, restores habitats for countless species, and brings new life to kelp forests along our coasts. Let’s make a meaningful impact together.
