As the warmer weather approaches, get ready for an epic road trip that will fuel your sense of adventure. Embark on a journey along Alberta's renowned Icefields Parkway, spanning 232 km (145 miles) between Banff and Jasper. With towering peaks and shimmering glaciers, the Icefields Parkway is hailed as one of the 'World's Top Drives', offering an unforgettable experience whether you're seeking a quick escape or a leisurely weekend getaway.

Before You Go

  1. Timeframe: While the Icefield Parkway can be driven in about 3 hours, plan at least 2 days to fully explore. Extending your trip by a day or two is recommended for a more immersive experience.
  2. Park Pass: Ensure you have a Park Pass, available online  or at park entry points, as it's mandatory for all visitors.
  3. Fuel & Services: Fuel and services are limited along the highway, so make sure to fill up beforehand and pack plenty of snacks and water. Before embarking on any trail, it's essential to check for possible closures due to weather changes.
  4. Park Regulations: Familiarize yourself with park regulations, including camping restrictions, wildlife protection measures, and Leave No Trace principles.
  5. Bear Safety: As the Parkway is home to bears and plenty of other wildlife, be sure to carry bear spray, travel in groups, and store food properly. Learn and follow Bear Safety Protocols.

Pack Like a Pro

Strategic packing is essential to a fun and productive adventure. Here’s a streamlined guide to packing essentials for your trip:

  1. Weather-Ready Gear: Layer up for changing mountain weather, and don't forget sturdy footwear and sun protection.
  2. Safety Essentials: Pack sunscreen, a first-aid kit, Bear Spray, and a multi-tool. If camping, bring Aquatabs for water purification.
  3. Navigation Tools: Download maps in advance, and carry a physical map or GPS device for backup.
  4. Food & Water: Plan meals ahead, pack snacks, and carry plenty of water. Our Branded Nalgene Water Bottle is lightweight and holds 32 oz.
  5. Campsite Essentials: Bring a tent, tarp, compact stove, and cozy sleeping bag. Consider adding foldable chairs or a hammock for comfort
